In November of 2017, the BEF15, a facility housing 36 youth refugees, got closed down by the city of Hamburg, despite heavy protests by everyone involved with the institution. The news of the closing came as a shock to the inhabitants, social workers and dozens of volunteers who had collectively built a lodestar in integration and inclusion. One of the social workers, Stephanie Goncalves Norberto, wanted to create something that kept the memory of the two years at BEF15 alive, something for everyone to take home and hold dearly. This is why we created "Heim" Magazine: a collection of interviews, reports, pictures and essays.
